At least 2 injured as 3-story building collapses in Songjiang
A three-story building in suburban Songjiang District collapsed Monday noon, leaving at least two people injured, and the rescue work is still ongoing, the district government said.
A woman and her son who were injured have been sent to hospital nearby. They are in stable conditions, the authority said.
At least two places under the debris showed signs of life, and about 150 police officers and firefighters together with rescue dogs are still searching for potential victims at the scene, xinmin.cn said.
The building at 61 Xixia Road collapsed about 12:50am, according to the district government.
Its first floor, which used to be a bank, was undergoing decoration to reopen as a foot spa salon, while the second floor and third floor were for residence, according to xinmin.cn.
The district government said the involved landlord, tenants and decoration workers are being questioned.
