Auction to make wishes come true
A CHARITY auction for children suffering from congenital heart disease and needy cataract patients will be held at the Shanghai Auction Co Ltd, 73 Sichuan Road N. in Hongkou District, on Sunday from 2pm.
The annual "Lighting Your Wishes" auction will include calligraphy, paintings and jewelry, the Shanghai Charity Foundation said.
One of the highlights will be embroidery "A Drunken Queen" donated by Shanghai-based Dutchman Fred Slot. He bought it last year at a charity auction in Qingdao City, Shandong Province.
Ma Xiaohui, a renowned local erhu player, is donating an instrument she has played.
Since 2000, the auction has raised more than 14 million yuan (US$2.05 million), helping more than 10,000 senior cataract patients and children with heart disease and hearing difficulties.
