Baby beds sold online found faulty
THE local watchdog has spotted serious quality problems in baby’s beds sold on online shopping sites including Tmall, yhd.com and jd.com.
Five batches of baby cribs sold on jd.com failed tests for structure, side plate and bedside requirement, instruction and sign, the Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau said yesterday.
China’s national standard for baby beds has a fixed height for side plates and bedside to protect children from falling out of beds. There are also requirements on the bed’s design structure for safety reasons. Children’s beds must also include safety instruction brochure as per the regulations.
Among these five batches, four were found to have “serious quality problems,” the bureau said. Two batches of wooden baby beds sold on yhd.com and two batches of baby cribs on Tmall had “serious quality problems.”
The bureau checked 22 batches of beds ahead of Children’s Day and more than half of them were found to be substandard.
The bureau also found two batches of car safety seats for children sold on Amazon.cn and Tmall failed in dynamic tests and had serious quality problem.
