‘Baby clinic’ raided, online report says
A biotechnology company in Songjiang District has been fined 10,000 yuan (US$1,500) for operating as a fertility clinic, local media reported yesterday.
The offices of Tianyi Daiyun on Zhongshan Road were raided on May 4 by police and health officials, the Songjiang News said via its WeChat account.
Drugs and equipment valued at approximately 1.5 million yuan, 480,000 yuan in cash, four embryos and six fertilized eggs were confiscated during the raid, the report said.
An investigation was launched into the company’s illicit activities on the strength of several tip-offs from the public, it said.
The biotech company is reportedly not licensed to provide medical services.
