Bad weather affects flights

OVER 120 flights were canceled and about 200 delayed due to bad weather at the city’s two airports yesterday.

The air traffic controller issued a yellow alert — the third of its four-tier alert system — for Shanghai Hongqiao and Pudong international airports at 8am because of lightning and thundershowers.

Pudong airport was the worst hit with 67 flight cancelation and 113 delays as of 6:30pm.

Over 60 flights had been delayed by two to four hours while 32 were delayed for over four hours.
