Ba-shi bus company encouraging its drivers to set good examples on roads
THE city’s traffic police and Shanghai Ba-shi Public Transportation Co have launched a self-disciplinary initiative to encourage bus drivers to set good examples on the road by obeying traffic regulations.
Police said that among the most common complaint was about buses occupying non-vehicle lanes, not using bus-only lanes and excessive honking in particular.
A director with the bus company’s work safety office, Chen Yanjun, said the company has tightened internal supervision on violations, including setting up a supervision unit for random road inspection and penalize the violating drivers.
Besides, 100 of the company’s more than 8,700 buses have installed video recorders to monitor violations of the bus drivers and other cars on the roads. The mode will be expanded to other buses of the company in future.
