Battle over ‘Warcraft’ card game

Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court has accepted a suit raised by Blizzard Entertainment and local company Wangzhiyi against Unico Interactive Limited for infringement and unfair competition, the court announced yesterday.
The two plaintiffs claim one of Unico’s online card games copied designs from their game and have demanded Unico cease to use it and pay 10-million yuan (US$1.65 million) compensation.
“Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft” is an online card game completed by Blizzard last March. Unico released its own game last October.
