Beggar feigning illness returns 100 yuan after being caught in lie
A COMMUTER said he got a refund of his money from a beggar on the city’s Metro lines who was pretending to be ill, eastday.com reported today.
The commuter said he gave 100 yuan (US$16.53) to a beggar who said he was ill on a Metro Line several days ago. But he saw the beggar again on Metro Line 9 yesterday and said he showed no signs of being sick.
He said he was so angry that he argued with the beggar, who unexpectedly returned his money.
The man then called Metro police, telling them his story so they could deal with the beggar. The outcome was not known.
Because beggars are prohibited on Metro Lines by security management rules, commuters can call police at 110 or dial the Metro hotline 64370000 for help.
Commuters can also follow “Metropolice110” on WeChat and report the location of beggars to police.
