Best of Lithuania drama coming
THE Modern Drama Valley, Shanghai’s annual theatrical extravaganza, is going international this year with emphasis on Lithuanian drama and seeking cooperation with the Edinburgh International Festival.
This year’s Modern Drama Valley, which runs from May 5-23, will present 17 productions from eight countries — China, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, Australia, France, Britain and Japan. One of the highlights will be Bertolt Brecht’s “Mother Courage and Her Children.”
A total of 165 shows will be staged during the event. At the entrance to the Jing’an Park, two reading pavilions will be set for people to read scripts. From May 17 to 23, Lithuania’s State Small Theatre of Vilnius will stage “A Spiritual Matter,” “The Masquerade” and “The Three Sisters” at the Daning Theater during the Lithuanian Drama Festival.
“The Masquerade” and “The Three Sisters” are works of Rimas Tuminas, an acclaimed Lithuanian director.
