Biyun in running for green award
SHANGHAI’S Biyun International Community is representing China in an international competition showcasing good practice in residential environments.
Officials say environmental considerations were central in the creation of Biyun — or Green City — in the Pudong New Area. The community of 1,200 homes, including 102 villas, features green areas that offer tranquil spots and pleasant cycle routes. Facilities include a church, schools, sports centers and shopping centers.
In November, Biyun will compete in the Dubai International Award for Best Practices, which was established in 1995.
Winners are promoted and used by the United Nations and the international community as a means of improving public policy and raising the awareness of decision-makers.
