Blackmail attempt ends in jail
A MAN who forced a teenage boy to take drugs and recorded the scene in a blackmail attempt was jailed for five years when he appeared at Putuo District People’s Court.
Chen, 34, was also fined 5,000 yuan (US$726) after he was convicted of allowing people to take drugs, forcing others to take drugs and illegal imprisonment.
High school student Wang got to know Chen through a part-time job at the bar where Chen worked.
On October 13 last year, Chen, the boy and two other bar staff went to Chen’s hotel, the court heard.
Chen had a quantity of methamphetamine and the two colleagues took some while Chen slapped Wang on the head and forced him to take some too. He used his phone to record the scene.
When the boy went home he became sick. His mother found out what had happened and took him to the police.
The two colleagues were given 15-day detentions and ordered to stay at a rehabilitation center for two years.
