Blogger admits fake sex story
NOTORIOUS blogger Song Zude paid 150,000 yuan (US$22,000) in court-ordered compensation and submitted a draft apology to Jing'an District People's Court yesterday, under the pressure of a court enforcement proclamation.
Song and his twin brother Liu Xinda promised to pay the remaining 30,000 yuan compensation to Xu Dawen, the widow of the late film director Xie Jin, in a week. Xu has also received 118,000 yuan from the brothers recently.
The brothers also promised to publish the apology in 10 appointed newspapers and Websites for 10 successive days in 20 days' time.
In his draft apology, Song, for the first time, admitted writing the blogs that claimed Xie died from having sex with a prostitute, and having made up the story.
"I promise I will abide by the law, speak and act with caution and will never do things like this again," Song said in the apology.
Last Wednesday the court published a proclamation, ordering Song to report to the court at 1pm yesterday and pay compensation to Xu.
If Song refused to appear by that time, he could be fined, detained or even jailed, the court proclamation said.
The twin brothers were originally ordered to pay about 290,000 yuan in compensation to Xu and publish an apology in 10 newspapers and news Websites, but they refused.
The court then sealed their four apartments and transferred 118,000 yuan from Liu's bank account to Xu.
