Blown-off banners cause drama on 2 Metro lines
OWNERS of two banners that were blown onto overhead lines of Metro lines 3 and 11 were asked to check and reinforce their banners, the Metro operator said at the weekend.
During evening rush hours on June 30, the blown-off banners caused trains on the affected lines to run at limited speeds, in turn causing overcrowding in the stations affected.
One of the banners was blown to between Line 3’s West Yingao Road and Jiangwan Town stations. The banner was set up by a neighborhood committee on Yixian Road, Hongkou District, to promote fire safety.
The other banner ended up on Line 11’s section between East Changji Road and Shanghai Circuit stations. It belonged to a real-estate agency’s outlet in Huicheng Construction Material Market on Cao’an Road.
Both the company and the neighborhood committee said they will reinforce their banners and equipment to ensure that they are kept away from the elevated Metro lines.
The Metro operator urges residents and institutes along the lines to remove unfixed objects or items that can easily fall, such as flowerpots and laundry from outdoors in case they affect Metro trains’ operation.
