Boy, 9, dies in fall from 14th floor apartment
A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy died after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Minhang District at 6am yesterday morning, Shanghai Morning Post reported.
"The boy fell when he was bringing in the laundry that was drying outside the window," said a security guard that declined to be identified.
The boy lived with his parents and a sister in the No. 34 building in the Wanyuancheng Langjun residential complex at 986 Wanyuan Road.
The apartment was divided into ten rooms, each with an individual locker, and the rooms were rented to different tenants. The boy's family rented one of them.
A neighbor surnamed Li who lives in the same apartment said the boy might have fallen when he stood on a windowsill to gather the laundry.
