Boyfriend 鈥榮tole from girlfriend鈥
A man has been detained after allegedly stealing 4,000 yuan (US$580) from his girlfriend via her mobile phone, police said yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Chen, took his girlfriend, surnamed Guo, to the police in Changqiao Xincun, Xuhui District, to report that both their mobile phones had been stolen overnight from their apartment.
Guo said when she tried to suspend the paying functions that morning she found the money had gone from her WeChat and Alipay accounts. Guo later found out after checking transaction details that the money was transferred to Chen’s accounts.
Chen then admitted that he knew Guo’s passwords and had stolen the money from her and had hidden their phones, police said, adding that they had found the phones in the couple’s apartment.
