Boy’s father detained for ‘stabbing teacher’
A FATHER was detained by police yesterday after allegedly stabbing a teacher who told him not to smoke in a school office.
The parent, surnamed Wang, had been asked to come to Caoyang Vocational School in Putuo District after his son was injured playing basketball.
He arrived at the school at 1pm and met with a teacher surnamed Tan.
But Wang became angry when Tan told him not to smoke in the office and attacked the teacher with a penknife he carried on him, according to police.
Tan, who suffered facial and head injuries, was taken to hospital and later described as being in stable condition.
Police said Wang, a Shanghai native in his 50s, had been drinking beforehand.
