Bronze statues defaced with paint on Nanjing Road

BRONZE statues standing at the busiest stretch of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall were splashed with paint in the early morning hours of today.
The statues, featuring a family walking along the road, is a landmark of the crowded pedestrian street.
According to the patrol, the incident happened around 5am, with at least two buckets of red and white paint spilled over the statues and around the base.
The statutes had been cleaned of paint by 11am, while some marks from the paint could still be spotted on the ground around the statue. Police said the incident is under investigation, and suspects will be severely punished if shown to be guilty.
