Bund bike race set for next month

The third “Tour de Bund”  bicycle race will take place at the Bund on September 14.

Organized by the Peninsula Shanghai and co-sponsored by Shanghai Daily and Raleigh China, the race will attract both professional and amateur cyclists from home and abroad.

Participants will start the race from the Pudong end of Nanpu Bridge and finish at  the Peninsula Shanghai. Professional athletes will cover a route of 50 kilometers while amateurs will cover 30km.

The cyclists will first ride along the Huangpu River in Pudong, then across the river by ferry, and then ride along the Bund.

Interested bikers can register for the event on http://tourdebund.org/en/apply with an admission fee of 480 yuan (US$78).

For the past two years, the annual event has attracted more than 300 participants and collected more than 60,000 yuan which is used for charitable causes.
