Bus company tackles excessive honking

SHANGHAI Ba-Shi Public Transportation Co aims to get its drivers to stop honking to much.

In cooperation with Puto District traffic police, it is trialling a new horn-control device it hopes will tackle the problem, the company said yesterday.

The device, which is initially being installed on No. 63 buses, limits the length of honks and the interval between them.

The device limits honks to 0.4 seconds and the interval is set at 20 seconds.

The installation of the device is expected to be completed by April 22.
