City bus driver dies in early morning crash
A SHANGHAI bus driver died after his vehicle crashed on Yan’an Elevated Road this morning, according to police.
The Airport Line 2 bus was driving past the Jiangsu Road exit ramp at 5am when it crashed into a concrete lane barrier. The vehicle kept going and then slammed into the right side guardrail, police said.
The driver fell out of the bus and onto the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers on the bus.
The crash caused three flowerpots on the elevated road to fall to the street below, but nobody was injured.
The accident backed up traffic along the elevated road between Jiangsu and Huashan roads, said police, adding they are still investigating the case.
