Bus firm facing double trouble

A LOCAL bus company is facing punishment from the city’s transport authority after receiving a police warning for overloading and employing an unlicensed driver.
On November 11, a driver with Shanghai Qishun Transport Co was found to be working under a fake license in Jiading District, police said yesterday. The counterfeit document was confiscated and the man suspended from work.
Police issued the company with a formal warning as the violation was the second in fewer than six weeks.
On September 30, another bus owned by the company was stopped by police as it approached the entrance to a highway. Officers found it was carrying 104 passengers, far above the maximum permitted of 61.
Police reported the violations to the Shanghai transport authority, which said it will issue a suitable punishment on completion of a full investigation.
Shanghai Qishun, which was registered in 2002, operates as a vehicle rental company and provides shuttle services to local businesses.
Anyone who spots a potential safety hazard on a public bus is encouraged to contact the police immediately.
