Business exec leading in expatriate poll

TENS of thousands of online votes have been cast for local expats who Shanghai Daily readers think are among the most influential foreign residents in the city’s international community.
Wong Fatt-heng of healthcare company Roche Diagnostics and graphic novel author Samuel Porteous topped the list at 11pm yesterday, each with more than 10,000 votes.
Shanghai Daily will introduce further candidates in the coming weeks.
Nominating and voting for the Shanghai International Excellence Award will last until January 16.

Click on a picture to read a candidate’s biography and click on the star icon above a picture to vote. Up to 10 votes can be made on each device every day.
Nominees so far include image ambassadors, community organizers, charity stars and opinion leaders.
To nominate a candidate, click on the plus sign, give your full name, upload a photograph and in the box below say who you’ve nominated and why.
Some members of the public whose selections match the final results will be invited to the awards ceremony.
