Cabbie detained over stabbings

A CABBIE has turned himself in following a road rage incident in which two people were stabbed, police said yesterday.

The Shanghai Falanhong Taxi Co driver, surnamed Xu, was driving along Qilianshan Road in Jiading District at 5:30pm on November 9 when the incident occurred.

According to police, Xu, 32, was involved in a dispute with the driver and passenger of a private car that cut him up and then stopped. Police said Xu claimed the other men hit him and he stabbed them in self-defense.

The driver had injuries to his hips, while his passenger was stabbed in the chest. Both are in stable condition.

Xu was persuaded by his family to turn himself in a few days later.

Police said Xu had lost his temper and regretted his actions.

He has been detained by police.
