Cabbies told not to say no

TAXI companies in Shanghai will be forced to scale down their operations if their drivers are found guilty of refusing to take passengers. According to a report on Shanghai Television last night, the firms will be forced to reduce the number of drivers they have on the road by between 6 and 10 percent if more than 4 percent of their cabbies are found guilty of rejecting fares. The report did not explain how the rules would be implemented or give a timeframe for the scheme, but said it was being driven by the city’s traffic management authorities.
