Canteen food sickens 15 college students

AT least 15 freshmen of Shanghai Aurora Vocational College suffered food poisoning on Monday as they were receiving military training, xinmin.cn reported today.
The students felt sick and showed symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting after eating dinner at the Shanghai Jiahua Education College in Fengxian District where 974 Aurora students were undergoing military training.
One student, named Xiaoming, said on his microblog that about 30 students felt sick and went to a hospital on Monday night. By yesterday, most students had left the hospital but some stayed to get further treatment.
Aurora said it rented the venue of Jiahua Education College to conduct the required military training for first-year students. All their meals were provided by Jiahua's canteen. Aurora has brought its students back to their own campus to continue the training.
Local food safety inspectors have collected food samples from the canteen to investigate the cause of the incident.
