A TOTAL of 7,653 private car plates are being made available at this month’s auction which will be held on Saturday. Among them are 253 second-hand car plates, the trade of which was incorporated into the auction at the end of last year. This was to curtail the private second-hand car plate trade, where plates were going for higher price than at auction and distorting the market. The price ceiling for the first-round bids is 73,700 yuan (US$11,793). The average successful bid for last month’s auction was 74,216 yuan and the success rate was 8.1 percent.
