JINSHAN District named a first batch of 17 enterprises that are required to pay for discharging volatile organic compounds (VOCs) starting from this month. VOCs are organic chemicals that are dangerous to human health and cause harm to the environment. According to Jinshan District Environmental Protection Bureau, the enterprises are mainly involved in the manufacture of paint, plastics, synthetic resin and ink products.
