Charity auction

ELEVEN exhibits displayed in the Pavilion of Public Participation will be auctioned for charity on October 17, the pavilion operator said yesterday.

It will be the Expo's first charity auction and the first auction of Expo exhibits, officials said.

The auction will be held at Shanghai International Commodity Auction Co Ltd on No. 108 Fuzhou Road. Visit the websites sh.tianya.cn and www.alltobid.com for more details.

Starting prices for the items range from 800 yuan (US$119) to tens of thousands of yuan.

The items include a long cross embroidery work of Nanjing Road, an Expo stamp made of Hetian jade and a crystal miniature of the China Pavilion.

The pavilion has received tens of thousands of works from the public and some of them will be auctioned online.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to schools for the children of migrant workers and seniors' homes.
