The Shanghai Charity Foundation said yesterday that it raised 707 million yuan (US$115.43 million) from donations last year, up from 603 million yuan in 2012. The money went to a variety of worthy causes, including earthquake victims, people needing cataract surgery, and needy families, it said. The foundation plans to raise 500 million yuan this year.
