Cholera-carrying frogs traced to Shanghai market
LOCAL industrial and commercial authorities are investigating the city's biggest aquatic products wholesale market on Tongchuan Road as cholera bacteria was found in bullfrogs sold in the market this week.
The bullfrogs came from southern Fujian Province, said the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administration.
The Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention has taken frog samples for lab test but the result has yet to be announced, said the market officials.
The contaminated frogs were found in a wet market in Kunshan, a small city in neighboring Jiangsu Province. They came from the Tongchuan Road wholesale market.
Meanwhile, Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu, said it hasn't found a spread of cholera cases in the province.
