City Elects Zhang As Vice Mayor
SHANGHAI has a new vice mayor. Zhang Xuebing, 55, former director of Shanghai Public Security Bureau and mayor assistant, is a native of Shandong Province and began his political career as deputy Party secretary of Luwan District in 1995. He was appointed the city's police chief in February 2008.
"I'll put raising people's sense of security and satisfaction at the top of my work agenda," Zhang said after his election.
He replaces Hu Yanzhao, who has been elected vice chairman of the city's legislative body.
