City adviser sacked for disciplinary breaches
A district political adviser has been demoted for serious discipline violations, the city’s disciplinary commission said yesterday.
Yan Juming, 55, was sacked as vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee of Jiading District.
He was found guilty of buying a property at a discounted price from a company he supervised when he was Party chief of Nanxiang Town and the Juyuan New Area in Jiading, the watchdog said.
“Yan’s behavior seriously violated the discipline of the Party,” it said, adding that he was no longer a political adviser.
The Shanghai native was also found guilty of overspending on accommodation and food, and changing an itinerary while leading a team of government officials on an overseas trip.
The statement said Yan also gave money from the public coffers to members of his staff and allowed his relatives to invest in companies he supervised.
Before entering the world of politics, Yan worked as a school principal. Following his demotion, his detailed resume was removed from the district government’s website.
