City officials broke rules on frugality
THREE officials have been punished for breaking frugality rules, the city’s Party discipline inspection commission said yesterday.
Pei Enle, head of the Shanghai Wildlife Conservation and Management Station, received a Party disciplinary warning for attending a dinner party at the invitation of a company and accepting gifts in May 2014.
Lu Xin, deputy head of the Jing’an Construction and Building Materials Management Bureau, was punished for accepting dinner and gifts from a company in September 2013.
Another name on the list was Wei Guoqiang, a township urban management team chief. Wei received a warning for using government cars for private purposes.
Shanghai reported a total of 20 cases where frugality rules were broken in 2014 and more than 20 people have been punished.
Rules highlighting the importance of frugality were adopted in December 2012 by the Party.
About 90,000 people have been punished nationwide since the frugality rules came into effect.
