City police catch man trying to break open ATM

Shanghai police captured a man who was attempting to pry open an ATM machine around 3am this morning in Xuhui District.

The burglar, wearing a mask, was using a screwdriver and other tools to try and open an ATM machine at a Bank of China branch on Longhua Road W.

The attempt set off the alarm and the man was caught at the scene.

Police said the 30-year-old man, surnamed Yang, is a taxi driver.
