City residents get discount concert tickets
THE government wants you to go to a concert.
To encourage residents to embrace high culture, city officials are making 900 tickets for five performances at Shanghai Concert Hall available to residents at a discount price.
The subsidized tickets, worth 180 yuan (US$28.00) each, will be sold for just 130 yuan.
The five performances, including the Peking Opera, will be staged in March and April.
To buy a discount ticket, residents must bring their identity cards to the Shanghai Concert Hall ticket office.
Each concertgoer is allowed to purchase a maximum of two tickets per performance. The tickets will display the last six digits of their identity card number, so they must also bring the card to the concert to gain admittance.
The ticket office told Shanghai Daily that foreigners must be accompanied by Chinese residents to enjoy the discount price, because passports cannot be used in lieu of identity cards.
Shanghai Concert Hall’s address is No 523 Yan’an Road E.
