Clip 鈥榝ound鈥 in Dove bar
MARS China, which manufactures Dove chocolate, is investigating a claim that a customer found a piece of metal in one of its products.
The woman said she bit into something like the clasp of an earring in a bar of Dove chocolate she bought on Tuesday at a shop near Liziyuan subway station.
“It was disgusting,” the woman, surnamed Hu, was quoted as saying by the Shanghai Morning Post yesterday.
The item weighed about 2 grams and had the letters “USAUSA” printed on it, the report said.
The manufacturer said the piece of metal has been sent to the company’s laboratory in Beijing for investigation.
It said it was surprised at the claim as all of its products pass through a metal detector as part of the firm’s quality control process.
