Closed gay club finds new home
A GAY nightclub currently shut down over licensing problems is holding events in another bar while it tries to resolve the issues.
Complaints to Xuhui District government alleged Club Angel was allowing "pornographic activities" to take place there. The authorities found no evidence to support these claims.
The local government said the Wulumuqi Road venue was closed last month as it opened in June without a business license. Once it obtains this, it can reopen, said an official.
While the wrangle continues, Club Angel held a party in Obama Club on Saturday, the Chinese Valentine's Day, according to a club post.
Another party is scheduled this Saturday, said bar staff.
It remains unclear when the nightclub will reopen.
The local government said the closure "had nothing to do with discrimination against the gay community."
