Cold front set to mark start of autumn

THE city will begin to experience autumn weather this week.
Yesterday was hanlu, or cold dew, in the traditional Chinese calendar, which indicates chilly weather ahead.
As if on cue, a cold front is set to arrive today, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
The day is set to be overcast, with some intermittent drizzle in the morning and evening. Temperatures are forecast to range between 19 and 24 degrees Celsius.
It will be overcast to cloudy from tomorrow to Friday. Temperatures will further drop, fluctuating between 16 and 22 degrees. In suburban areas, morning temperatures are likely to drop to 15 degrees.
The sunshine will be back on Saturday but the mercury will remain stable.
Officially it requires five consecutive days, with average temperatures below 22 degrees, for it to be autumn.
Records show Shanghai usually enters autumn on October 2, and it lasts around 60 days on average.
