Collapsed building demolished

A building was demolished for safety reasons yesterday after its second and third floors collapsed on Saturday afternoon during renovation work.
According to the preliminary investigation, the collapse of the three-story brick and concrete structure at No 180 Yanchang Road W in Putuo District happened after tenants removed load-bearing walls, Shanghai Television Station reported.
‘It used to be a factory and was later leased to some companies,’ Gu Xiaopeng, director of the urban construction authority of Putuo District told the station. ‘We are still investigating to find out the exact reason of the collapse.’
