DIRECTORS of Confucius Institutes from around the world arrived at East China Normal University yesterday for the start of a nine-day conference on Chinese culture and the sharing of experiences. There are currently 475 such nonprofit institutions in 126 countries and regions, all of which are funded by the central government to promote Chinese language and culture, and facilitate exchanges.
