Couple held for stealing chrysanthemums near Shanghai Disneyland
A couple have been detained for stealing 150 kilograms of chrysanthemums near Shanghai Disneyland, police said yesterday.
The middle-aged couple, surnamed Qian and Li, broke into the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, where Shanghai Disneyland is located, several times at midnight in October. They used scissors to cut the golden Chrysanthemum and left in their vehicle.
In their latest attempt, the couple spent an hour and a half to steal more than 2,500 chrysanthemums. Police said one of them would usually keep a watch while the other did the stealing. They were finally caught on October 25 at the Tingfeng exit of S36 Expressway.
Qian said he and Li were selling them to make a living, and that they didn’t realize it was a crime.
The case is still under investigation.
