Couple jailed in prostitution case
A COUPLE who ran two hair salons in Songjiang were jailed yesterday for heading a gang which forced more than 20 women to become prostitutes. Songjiang District People's Court jailed Zhao Lingfang, 39, for 12 years and her husband, Zhang Zhongqi, 45, for 11 years. Twelve other associates also received prison terms.
The court heard that the couple began to allow prostitutes to work in their hair salon in 2007. They later cooperated with Fan Peiguang, a Hunan Province native, to recruit more. Fan got his two sons, one of whom was still a minor, to ask young women to be their girlfriends. When the women came to the city, they were forced into prostitution.
