Credit system for pharmacies
SHANGHAI will introduce a credit rating system for local pharmacies before the end of the year to regulate pharmaceutical sales and distribution, the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said yesterday.
The system is similar to the ones issued for eateries and driving license, where points are deducted from violators.
Any pharmacy that loses 12 credits in a year will be penalized or have its license revoked.
For a minor offense like not displaying their business license, the pharmacies will be deducted one point, while serious violations like accepting fake prescription or not installing computers for drug purchase, storage and supply, they can lose between three and 12 points.
The license, once revoked, will only be handed back after a thorough check by the authorities. Repeat offenders stand to lose much more.
Shanghai adopted a credit system for eateries at the beginning of this year.
