DaVinci denies wrongdoing

DAVINCI Furniture Co Ltd, caught in a scandal over the quality and origin of its furniture, yesterday claimed in a statement that it transports its domestically made furniture to free-trade zones "for reducing logistic costs hence lowering the price." Earlier, the Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said the company transported products made in China to the free-trade zones in Shanghai, "transforming" them into imported ones.
The company also denied forging customs declarations. Consumers have suspected that some of the declarations were counterfeits.
