Database for elderly who roam
POLICE in Jiading District have found a solution to the problem of old people who have dementia or trouble speaking getting lost.
The have established a database of at-risk seniors to help reunite them with their families.
In cooperation with residential committees, the district’s community police officers have so far collected the personal details and photos of 57 residents.
The register has already been used to help five residents.
In one case, a man in his 80s who lives in a residential complex near Qiuzhu Road and Shengzhu Road was found in a village on October 10. He was reported to the Loutang police station.
Police found an electricity bill, and using the database, matched it with the man's home address. He was then reunited with his family the same evening.
