An advertising company owner who murdered his driving school classmate was given the death penalty, Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court announced yesterday. At first, Chen Shaoyi tried to borrow money from his classmate, surnamed Fu, when his company was struggling financially. After Fu refused to bail him out, Chen smothered Fu and took her credit cards and withdrew 40,000 yuan (US$6,532) from Fu’s accounts. Chen removed her clothes to suggest she was raped and left her naked in the woods.
