Deliveryman makes his mark
DELIVERYMEN with a local courier firm are to receive additional training after one scrawled a message in permanent marker pen on a customer’s door.
The courier, surnamed Gong, works for a branch of Yunda Express in Baoshan District.
On Monday he wrote a message on a customer’s door reading, “I tried to deliver a parcel to you but you’d turned off your mobile phone!”
Gong has been disciplined by the company and apologized to the customer, a Yunda official said.
Yunda managers have now been summoned to headquarters for customer services training and then pass this on to other staff.
“I was very angry when I discovered the message on my door,” said the customer, surnamed Guan, who lives on Yanchang Road in Zhabei District.
Yunda will arrange for cleaners to remove the message, the official said.
Meanwhile, some local courier firms are setting up sub-units — including automatic machines — near communities to keep packages for collection later if the recipients are not home.
