Demolition damage leads to power cut

THREE residential complexes in Songjiang District suffered a power outage yesterday after a concrete frame collapsed during demolition work and damaged a transformer box.
The structure gave way at around 1pm while workers were demolishing a six-story building at the intersection of Songhui Rd M and Renmin Road. No casualties were reported but three cars were damaged by the falling frame. The transformer box was brought down by the debris and several power lines were cut. A new transformer box and cables were installed by 5:25pm and power was resumed at 6:20pm, the authorities said.
