Disabled people worst affected by disease

ABOUT 90 percent of disabled people in Shanghai suffer from some form of disease, while more than 70 percent of them have two or more such ailments, recent research has said.

According to a joint study by Fudan University’s Public Health School and the Shanghai Disabled Persons’ Federation, the most common conditions are hypertension, fatty liver and a narrowing of the arteries. The high incidence of medical problems among disabled people is due to the fact that they are unable to exercise properly, the study said.
