Disney resort bans use of selfie sticks
ANYONE planning to visit Shanghai Disneyland when it opens next year be warned: selfie sticks will not be allowed.
“(The) sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast,” Shanghai Disney Resort said yesterday after its parent company announced a global ban on the gadgets earlier in the week.
The sticks have already been banned on all rides within Disney theme parks.
A similar ban (on using the sticks on rides) applies at Shanghai Happy Valley in Songjiang District and Jinjiang Amusement Park in Minhang District, while the Shanghai Museum of Natural History has a total ban on the devices.
Around the world, the Smithsonian in Washington, Palace of Versailles in Paris and the Colosseum in Rome have also outlawed selfie sticks.
